Who is Mark?

Mark is what survival looks like after official employment curdles into private preparation. He does not arrive with polish. He arrives with locks, equipment, suspicion, and a cabin that refuses to be only a cabin.

Role in the novel

Mark turns resistance into engineering. His spoiler safe function is practical and unnerving: when the state learns to control bodies through signals, somebody has to learn how to interrupt the signal.
